“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth.” Psalm 127:3
We are Katie and Marcie Hadley, a mother and daughter Doula and Childbirth Education team! We are very excited to be serving women in Birmingham, Anniston, and surrounding areas.
Although my two children were birthed in my heart through adoption, I have been interested in childbirth since my teen years. Learning more about birth and supporting friends through birth eventually led to the desire to support women as a doula and to pursue midwifery studies. The more I learn about pregnancy and childbirth, the more in awe I am of God’s incredible design and all He desires us to learn through this amazing journey. It is a great privilege to serve a birthing family, especially as the father supports the laboring mother. Birth is truly beautiful.
In Nov, 2010, I began my doula training through DONA, Int. and completed my certification Jan. 2014. Since that time, my studies have included CAPPA Childbirth Educator training, Lamaze childbirth class, medical CPR training, breastfeeding class, water birth training, and midwifery workshops. Last year, I had the privilege of participating in a student midwifery mission trip to Uganda. Midwifery studies are ongoing. I have been privileged to serve 30+ families so far.
Along with a love of learning, I enjoy sharing what is being learned. My children were home schooled through 12th grade. My hobbies include hospitality, sewing (especially heirloom sewing), cooking with whole foods, organic gardening, nutrition, hiking, writing, and reading; but most of all I love being a mom! I blog about all these at www.wholesomefarmhouse.com.
I am thrilled to have the honor of serving women through their birth journeys. Always interested in learning, I began my journey into discovering the wonders of childbirth in 2010 at a DONA doula training course taught by a great instructor. I have also completed training through CAPPA to become a childbirth educator. I have been blessed to attend two births so far and look forward to attending more. I’ve been attending midwifery workshops with my mom in hopes of assisting her when she becomes certified. I am also medical CPR certified.
Bearing children is an amazing gift God has given to women- not only are their bodies designed to nurture life in the womb, but they are also able to birth their child into the world. It is such a joy to come away from a birth where you can see the immense satisfaction of the family as they savor the birthing experience. It is my desire to facilitate this as best I can for families.
I also enjoy piano and hope to teach, raising Golden Retrievers, reading, nutrition, cooking with whole foods, and learning! I blog about my Golden Retrievers at www.greenmeadowsgoldens.com.
